At least fifty prominent people attended a “mixer” – a social gathering of people meant for mingling and keeping up with social activities – held last 20 August 2009 at the Filipino Community Center here at Vallejo, California. The “mixer” was sponsored by Doria Protective Services, Inc. (DPS) – an outfit specializing in security services.
During the affair, the FilAm Chamber of Commerce commended Jason Smith, a board member of Wells Fargo, for good community service.
Among those present were: Hermie Sugna, the Vice Mayor of Solano County and the incumbent President of the Chamber of Commerce; OJ Villanueva, President of Vallejo Unified School Board; Jeff Holder, Commissioner of Human Relations and Chairman of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce; Dr. Jerry Kae, Director of Vallejo Campus of Community College; Greg Torres, Treasurer of the FilAm Chamber of Commerce; Mary Bitagon, Commissioner of Business and Economic Development of the Vallejo Community; Omar Martinez, President of the Guardian Angels in Solano County; Dr. Obalde, Former Board Member of Solano College, and; Maximino Doria, Member of the Board of the Chamber of Commerce and the Owner and Manager of DPS.
In a speech, Melvin Doria, President of DPS, pointed out the significant difference of DPS among the security services providers competing in the Solano County. Doria said that the significant difference is that not only were background checks of security officers at DPS done extensively but their credentials were also intensively considered.
Addressing the bigwigs present, Doria said: “Anyone can do background checks on his people. But at DPS, we assure that only well-trained and quality-people are hired. We do not hire people off-the-street.”
He said that asides from the basic requirements , DPS requires their officers to be Police Academy graduates, retired law enforcement officers, people from the military, or people with at least five years security experience.
